Our Chairman Fee Brooker welcomed 80 LARC members and supporters into the Lymington Town Sailing Club Solent Room to celebrate this year’s club awards.
Warmly celebrating the growth and the success that the club is experiencing, Fee also highlighted the urgent need for the club to build up more infrastructure, in particular our boat fleet, to support that growth. The club had 68 members in 2020 to over 160 today with a waitlist for new members and an anticipated future surge in interest in rowing with the Paris Olympics on the horizon.
The club has set itself a fundraising target of £20,000 and Fee asked everyone to get behind the campaign starting with the Awards Dinner raffle and future events already planned.
Fee also went on to thank all those who give up their time to make the club happen - including the committee, coaches, captains and junior parent supporters as well as all the members who quietly do things to keep making the club better.

Sue was unanimously voted Club Member of the Year for her outstanding contribution to the club, not only running our Junior Development Squad but also organising club events and fundraising initiatives.

Junior Ladies
This was a new award this year and was awarded to our Junior Ladies crew for their outstanding performance in the Hants & Dorset Season in 2023.
Most Improved Rower of the Year

The award for the most improved rower was awarded jointly to two of our junior rowers in recognition of their exceptional progress in 2023.
2023 Achievement Awards
Exceptional Contribution
David Gredley
Another new award in 2023 was awarded to recreational rower David Gredley in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the club restoring two of our wooden coastal boats Frank Crabtree and Cynthia Saunders C2x.
Coxing Squad

Awards were given to our crew of junior coxes as a thank you for the brilliant support they give to our racing crews. No crew gets out on the water without them!
The Paddle

Ocean Adventuring
In recognition of their stand out Ocean Adventure Endurance Row from Bangor (Northern Ireland) to Oban (Scotland). 3 hour row, 3 hours rest, repeat…over 3 days.

In recognition of his willingness to step in to help others, the “Boy in the Boat” award went to Sol because when asked to stroke a boat…..a novice boat….a novice 8….a ladies novice 8 …. he said “yes”!
What Blade Splinter?
Rebecca Wilkinson
Rebecca was awarded the Blade Splinter award in recognition of her true grit. Rebecca got a painful carbon fibre splinter from a broken blade in her first race but went on racing in more races, splinter still in situe!
Thank you to LTSC for welcoming us into their Solent Room and looking after us so well. To all of the Social Committee who went above and beyond to organise such an enjoyable evening and to the Raffle Team for helping us raise over £600 for the club on the night. Awesome.
