A Strong LARC Community

SCC.jpg

Our club’s membership currently sits at 115 (from 68) so our programme has been strengthened. More ergs have been bought and we have a shopping list of equipment to buy to support this growth.

The JLARC Race Squad, led by Jane, /Hugo and Tim have a strong network of parents (both on and off the water) supporting 3 sessions per week, Monday and Wednesday evening and Sunday am. Results speak for themselves, winning the SCC Junior Aggregate Trophy 2021.

Our Adult Race Squads are all following a club wide training programme, designed by Tim Bull and led by Pete, Hugo, Tim, Terry, Kirsty and Liv on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday am.

Our Rec Row community is growing at quite a pace. Led by Kirsty and Terry, sessions are scheduled at OFF PEAK times (avoiding race squads) on Monday and Wednesday evening and weekend afternoons.

A NEW Instructor led programme has just been launched offering PAID Coxed Quad outings, Pilates, Couch to 2K Erg and RowFit sessions. This offering is optional to those who wish to improve their technique, strength and fitness through regular, organised OFF PEAK sessions, generating revenue for the club.

A Crew Lead Competency programme has been initiated to support any member wanting to be assessed to organise and lead a Recreational Row session. Booking forms are available to them to reserve the Boats/ MiniBus/ Clubrooms and also the Ergs by seat number.

A Coxing and PB2 course offered too.

We are launching a community network called MOTIV8. Led by Emma, Deb and Kirsty we hope to inspire members to ‘show up’ and encourage each other to reach their goals EG: Couch to 5K, Pier to Pier Swim, Round the Island Cycle etc

All ideas welcome.

Congratulations to Tim and Livvi Bull on their Virtual London Marathon last |Sunday, raising in excess of £767 for Alzheimer’s Research UK and completing their London Classics.

Huge effort from Mike, Pete, Dave and new member; Nicky Osborne too.
